The NFL betting landscape has undergone a seismic shift, at least in the NFC East. For years QB Donovan has been one of the best in the business and been a thorn in the side of NFC East NFL wagering opponents. And in the upcoming NFL betting season that’s not going to change, he’ll just be beating defenses while wearing a maroon jersey instead of green one.

In one of the truly unprecedented moves in football betting history, the Philadelphia Eagles traded away a Pro-Bowl QB (and the best in franchise history). And they didn’t ship him off to the distant West Coast or to the AFC betting competition.

Nope.

They shipped him a few hundred miles south to their hated NFC East betting rivals, the Washington Redskins. Head Coach Andy Reid deserves the benefit of the doubt considering all his NFL betting success but the move, at least on paper, seems preposterous. Although you could argue that moving McNabb is the best move the long term football betting success of the Eagles and that by dealing him to Washington it prevented the Skins from drafting a skilled QB of the future in a draft thought to be deep in QB talent.

Regardless, Washington just got a helluva lot better and should improve immediately in the eyes of NFL odds makers. After years of football betting futility with Jason Campbell as the starting QB in our nation’s capital the Skins NFL betting fans finally have something to cheer about.

Washington has a relatively good O-line and McNabb should be in good hands. And until last season the Skins had a very good running game, one of the best in the NFL betting action with several backs capable of breaking the 1,000 yard barrier. The addition of former Steelers RB Willie Parker should only improve the running game.

The biggest question mark for the Skins entering this NFL betting season will be at the WR position. Santana Moss is the only name recognizable to most NFL betting fans and has proven himself a threat during his decade in the league. But he’ll see double coverage all game long unless the Skins can groom a productive second and third receiving option out of its stable of no-name pass catchers.

And that will be the big question mark hanging over this team as the 2010 NFL betting season approaches.

The quick and simple answer to this question is: No.

And that’s no knock on the Saints an NFL betting organization or its players, it’s simply that repeating as the Super Bowl betting champion might be the most difficult thing to do in professional team sports. It is extremely rare as only three teams have done in the past three decades, and only one team (the New England Patriots) have done in the era since free agency has taken effect.

Drew Brees is an excellent QB. Sean Peyton has proven to be terrific coach as has his defensive Guru Greg Williams. But it’s takes more than talent alone to win the biggest prize in NFL gambling. It’s takes luck, good health, friendly scheduling and just about a million other uncontrollable variables all lining up perfectly, for a team to win the most important game in NFL betting lines and that’s why it’s so hard for an NFL team to repeat as Super Bowl betting champions.

The Saints also have a few worries of their own heading into the 2010 NFL betting lines action. Brees is set on offense and he’s got plenty of weapons around him in the back field and down field in the passing game. But the team’s defense is suspect, at best, and will be hard pressed to keep football betting opponents under 20 points a game.

The Saints are a team that score a ton of points in a hurry (NFL best 31.9 ppg in 2009 NFL gambling action) and generally do. But it’s very hard for an unbalance team that score but can’t defend to win the Super Bowl. Or even an NFL playoff betting contest for that matter. Any weakness will get exploited by opposing coordinators and when it’s a weakness as big as the Saints on D, you can be sure football betting opponents will make them pay.

The Saints have no pass rush, their corners can’t cover, there’s no safety help down field and their linebacking group is below average. Consider that the team’s defense ranked 19th in the NFL betting action last season in defense and after the departure of several key free agents, the unit (at least on paper) will be even worse than last year. Granted the team’s best defense is Brees controlling the ball and keeping it out of the opposing QBs hands, but that’s not enough to win another Super Bowl betting title.

The Miami Dolphins need major help in this year’s NFL Draft. No team in the history of NFL betting has staged as big of a turnaround in one season that the 2008 Miami Dolphins, a team that went from 1-15 the previous year to winning the AFC East and making the NFL betting playoff two football betting seasons ago.

But if the team’s mediocre 2009 performance in the NFL standings taught us anything, it’s that the ;08 wasn’t really as good as its football betting record claimed it to be and the strength of the NFL wagering schedule plays a major role in a tams ultimate success in the NFL betting competition.

For more details about NFL Betting Lines please go to SBG Global.com

And that’s exactly why the Dolphins need to pick up a few key players in the upcoming NFL draft. There is no better way to rebuild a team than to draft them, however, this process can also take time and that’s not a luxury this hodge-podge Miami franchise has. With aging veterans at several of its key positions this team needs to find a way to upgrade immediately before the older players can no longer contribute to winning NFL wagering matchups.

The team recently signed free agent MLB Karlos Dansby and filled a major need for this team to be successful in the upcoming football betting season. Now the most pressing football wagering needs for this team are safety and wide receiver. And these will almost certainly be addressed by the team in the NFL Draft.

According to NFL betting lines experts the top receiver in the NFL Draft this year is Okalhoma State’s Dez Bryant. He’s a top ten pick and almost universally expected to be a star by people in the football wagering community. He’d be the perfect WR for young QB Chad Henne and capable of stretching the field and opening up the running game as well.

The only problem is the Dolphins have the #12 pick in the NFL Draft and Bryant could very well be off the board by then. At safety there are a number of intriguing options and fortunately for Dolphins this is a position where players can contribute immediately to the team’s NFL wagering success.

Every NFL gambling franchise is asking itself the same question right now. The NFL Draft is just a few weeks away and the NFL gambling free agency (in a year with no salary cap) just opened. If you’re a team’s GM and you need to upgrade, do you do it through the NFL Draft or do you in free agency?

It’s a tough question and there really isn’t a good NFL gambling answer. More than anything it really depends on the position. For example this year the 2010 NFL draft is rich in WRs and RBs. So if you’re a team looking upgrade at either skill position you’ve got a lot of options.

At WR the free agent class is pretty bare. Aside from Anquan Bolden, who went quickly to the Ravens, the rest of the class is pretty much washed up. And with so many top WRs in the NFL Draft this season a team is better off drafting a player from college rather even if it means waiting a year or two for the player to develop. At RB it’s a bit different because at that position a skilled player can step in on day one and make an impact as a rookie.

But there are also a handful of quality veteran backs available including Thomas Jones. Still when it comes to RBs, youth is always better and generally cheaper. Other positions where rookies can step in immediately and make a difference are linebacker, O-line and in some cases the D-line.

When you factor in the talent of the free agent market and the asking price of the players you’re often better off upgrading in the draft as you can immediate results. But the main advantage of free agency remains the fact that you’re getting a proven quantity where there is always some risk involved in drafting.

One year ago there was great anticipation among NFL betting lines junkies for the 2010 quarterbacking class. It was going to rival the great NFL draft of 1984 that produces such stars as Dan Marino, Jim Kelly and John Elway. With Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford and Tim Tebow all coming off phenomenal seasons their potential in the NFL betting lines seemed limitless.

But after Bradford’s season was torn apart by injuries, McCoy failed to live up to the hype and Tebow’s mechanics were torn apart by NFL draft experts, this QB crop now looks mighty average in the eyes of most NFL betting line’s experts. Bradford is still the number player in this bunch, if perhaps only for the fact that his potential has yet to be revealed because of the injuries.

But he’s got all the tools you expect in a successful QB (size, arm strength, accuracy and leadership) which is more than be said for the other QBs. Notre Dame junior Jimmy Clausen is widely viewed as the second best QB in the NFL draft but there are plenty of questions about him as well. He has the advantage of playing a pro style offense in college which helps with the preparation but many feel he’s reached his potential and won’t improve much in the NFL.

McCoy’s stock has dropped the most of any QB this year and while he’s got great accuracy and a high completion percentage, great indicators of NFL success, he doesn’t throw deep well and didn’t read defenses well his senior season. Tebow remains the wildcard of this group and with work on his mechanics could still turn out to be the best QB in the draft.

The NFL draft is the most interesting and most widely followed of all the major sporting drafts in the US. For whatever reason NFL betting lines fans flock to the Internet checking out mock drafts for weeks, sometimes even months, before the big event takes place.

No other major league sport enjoys the same type of following as the NFL draft and this year should be as exciting as it’s ever been. In recent years there have been some changes to the draft format which most NFL betting lines fans agree has improved the event. The most visible change has been moving the start of the draft to a Friday and stretching the NFL draft action over three days.

This allows for the first two rounds to be televised on a week while the successive rounds are played out over two days. That makes for a better audience as many people, no matter how big of NFL betting lines they might be, have a hard time sitting through two straight days of drafting. By breaking up the action the NFL has made this unique event more fan friendly.

The other change made in recent years was limiting the time between picks to speed up the action. This has also made the viewing much more pleasurable. The NFL draft now has no peers when it comes to major sports drafts. The NBA draft is just two rounds and most people stop watching after the lottery picks.

The MLB draft is way too long and the NHL draft generally isn’t accessible as it’s aired on little known cable networks, if at all. This year the NFL’s draft will be the king of drafts once again.

Peyton Manning is not only most important player on the Colts but arguably in all of sports betting as his fourth and most recent NFL MVP award would attest. And as QB is the most important position in football, Drew Brees is the most important player on his Saints squad by large margin.

But the third most important player either Super Bowl lines roster will not likely even play in Sunday’s sports betting extravaganza. Colts DE Dwight Freeney is not only the best DE in the game but he’s revolutionized the position since coming into the league in 2002. He’s also currently the owner of one very severely sprained ankle with a torn ligament that will likely keep him out of the Super Bowl lines competition.

The Colts have known about the injury since it happened in the AFC Championship game but sports betting fans are just learning the extent of it. He hasn’t practiced since the injury occurred and even if he does get in Super Bowl lines contest he’s likely to be rusty. According to various reports by physicians familiar with this type of injury the most hopeful scenario would be Freeney seeing limited action on a few third downs or other obvious pass rush situations in the sports betting.

The loss of Freeney cannot be overstated. For the Colts defense to be effective against a white-hot Drew Brees and Co. in the Super Bowl lines they have to pressure him early and often. DE Robert Mathis is one of the best in the game at this and Raheem Brock is a worthy sub, but there is no replacing a player like Freeney, especially on a stage as large as the Super Bowl lines.

There is no group of homo sapiens on this mud ball that spend more time and resources dissecting football match ups than online betting NFL gurus and odds makers. And the closer that the Super Bowl online matchup gets the more they like the chances of the Indy Colts. And who are you to argue with the online betting NFL experts and their Super Bowl online predictions.

The Colts are indeed the better team and they will indeed capture a second Super Bowl online title in four years. The biggest reason for the Colts victory is no secret and you hardly need to be an online betting NFL guru to know that Peyton Manning is an unstoppable weapon.

On his way to the big game Manning led the Colts to a regular season record of 14-2 and arguably could have led the team to an online betting NFL record of 16-0. In the playoffs he vanquished on the best defense in the NFL in the Ravens and then, for good measure, picked apart the best defense in the online betting NFL competition (NY Jets).

The New Orleans Saints defense is bad. It ranks 26th in pass defense and gives up nearly as many points as the New Orleans Hornets. Think what Manning might do to this group in the Super Bowl online competition considering what he’s done against much better defenses. Sure the Saints are scoring a million points a game in the playoffs (38 ppg, actually) but the Colts speedy defense matches up very well with the saints multiple receiver passing schemes and will hold the Saints to modest score while Peyton goes to work dissecting the Nawlins’ secondary.

Super Bowl lines bettors recall the right foot of Adam Vinatieri providing the sports betting difference in Super Bowl wins by the New England Patriots. Vinatieri proved to be one of the greatest clutch kickers in sports betting history and was figured to be an ace that the Indianapolis Colts could rely upon.

Unfortunately Vinatieri has an injured knee and cannot play in the Super Bowl. Matt Stover will continue to handle the kicking duties for the Colts in his place.

The 42-year old Stover is in his 20th season in the NFL after playing college ball at Louisiana Tech. Stover figured his career was over until he got the call from Indianapolis after Vinatieri went down.

Stover finished with 9 out of 11 field goals including a perfect 2-2 from 40-49 yards out. He was a perfect 5-5 in the playoffs. Stover has Super Bowl experience as he was the kicker on the Baltimore Ravens 2000 Super Bowl team. Stover was the only kicker the Ravens ever had until parting ways after the 2008 season. Baltimore’s loss looks to be the Colts gain!

In what is perhaps a sign of the times for the second straight year there will be no elite running back in the Super Bowl odds this season. In fact, there’s no one even approximating a betting on NFL standout running back. And perhaps even more damning, the absolutely worst running team in the betting on NFL action (Indy) is not only featured in the Super Bowl odds, but a 6-point favorite heading into Sunday’s game.

It’s no secret the Colt’s offense begins and ends with Peyton Manning and it would be a major surprise id the Super Bowl odds game plan deviated much from that basic strategy. But just the idea of a team with no running game being favored in the Super Bowl odds would have been unfathomable to most betting on NFL experts a few years ago.

Consider that Indy averaged just 80.9 on the ground in the betting on NFL regular season. Never before has a team that bad at moving the ball on the ground been favored in the Super Bowl odds. Further, the team average just 3.5 yards a carry, the only team in the betting on NFL action was the Chargers (3.3 ypc).

And the Colts could care less. They didn’t even try and run the ball or make an attempt to balance out the attack. Indy ran the ball just 22.8 times a game, second lowest in the NFL slightly behind only the Cards (22.9). What’s more this will be the second year in a row that a pass heavy, run deficient offense will be in the Super Bowl odds (Cards in ’09).
