AFC Playoffs Ravens at Patriots NFL Odds

The Baltimore Ravens were a roller coaster team this season running out to a perfect 3-0 season before dropping three in a row and meddling their way into the playoffs with a 9-7 record, clinching a berth only on the last day of the NFL betting season. So what’s the team’s chances of running through the AFC playoff competition?

Not bad actually. This team will be the darkhorse in the sports betting lines no doubt about it. Take for example their AFC wildcard matchup on the road against the New England Pats. The early NFL odds favor the Pats by a field goal, yet that game has the look of a classic upset.

The Ravens nearly won in Foxborough earlier this year and with the Pats banged up look like they should win this week. But more than the Pats being injured, the Ravens are playing some good football. The team has been solid on both sides of the ball and has all the ingredients for playoff success: one of the NFL’s best defense (3rd in scoring, 5th in rushing, 9th in passing), a solid QB, and beastly running game.

For the first time in years the offense has overshadowed one of the top defense’s in the league and QB Joe Flacco and RB Ray Rice give this team a nearly unstoppable stable of talent on the offensive side of the ball. The biggest hurdle of the playoffs for Baltimore will be playing all its games on the road as the 6th seed. But as the Steelers and Giants have proven, that’s hardly insurmountable.
