The San Diego Chargers gave their backers a most Merry Christmas with a 42-17 blowout win at Tennessee over the Titans as 3-point road dogs. The Chargers led by a 3rd quarter score of 28-0 and won going away from there.

The payout was the Chargers 6th out of their last 8 games with the NFL odds as San Diego improved their overall straight up record to 12-3. The Titans fell to 7-8 straight up and 6-9 against the spread as their playoff hopes were gone for good.

Quarterback Philip Rivers was again the star for the Chargers as he lit up the Tennessee secondary for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory. The Chargers defense continued to show improvement as they held Tennessee quarterback Vince Young to 89 yards passing. The Chargers intercepted Young 2 times.

The Chargers defense has shown steady improvement after a tough start and ranks in the upper third of the NFL for points allowed. The game marked the 4th time in their last 5 games that the Chargers have gone over the total.

The Chargers continue to show supremacy as a passing attack as Rivers went over the 4000 mark for passing yards and improved his overall quarterback rating to 104.5. Rivers has completed 65.4 percent of his passes and has a 27/9 touchdown to interception ratio.

San Diego’s top two receivers have been Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates. Jackson has 68 catches for 1167 yards and 9 touchdowns while Gates has 78 catches for 1145 yards and 7 touchdowns.

San Diego will close the regular season at home versus Washington on January 3.
