Favre is Exactly What the Vikings Were Missing

viking-favreNFL betting lines showed a huge difference between this year’s Minnesota Vikings team and last year’s and his name is Brett Favre. Maybe it’s not so much Favre as it is the fact that it’s not Tavaris Jackson, but judging by what we saw Sunday against the visiting Niners, the ‘Silver Fox’ still has some gas in the tank.

Last year in a tight NFL betting lines game in the final seconds this Vikings team would have been beaten. Minnesota simply didn’t have the talent or experience to come through in close games. That’s no longer true as Favre put together a dandy passing day (301 yards, 2 TDs) and delivering the winning TD with just 2 ticks on the clock.

And as good as Favre was during that game he’s not even the primary weapon on this team and that’s what makes it so scary for NFC foes. Minnesota already had the best RB in NFL betting lines, and now it’s also looking as though it might have one of best return men in the NFL lines as well.

Adrian Peterson, again put on a major performance with everyone in the stadium keying on him and rookie Percy Harvin had another stellar day returning kicks including a 101-yard gem he took to the house.

On offense this team has gone from one-dimensional to one of the best in NFL betting odds over the past offseason. The real question will be how long can Favre last? Will he break down in November or December? Not likely with the running game doing most of the heavy lifting and playing indoors ought to ensure that he makes it through regular season into the playoffs in good shape.
