But head coach Marvin Lewis looks to have finally found his NFL betting stride, or at least the right personnel to play the type of game he’s always wanted to play in Cincy and this club is no longer your father’s Bengals.

The Bengals have undergone radical changes over the past two football betting off-seasons and this team now looks more like its AFC North rivals the Ravens and Steelers than the Bengals of old.

But that radical shift in offense tactics resulted in the Bengals best finish in years (10-6) and the team’s first AFC North division title in years. However, the offense might not even be the most important part of this team anymore as the Lewis influence has finally been felt on the other side of the ball and the defensive unit is finally starting to make a name for the Bengals.

In the 2009 NFL betting season the Bengals ranked sixth in the NFL betting action in total defense allowing just 18.2 ppg, beating the vaunted Steelers defense in the this statistical category for the first time in the history of the universe. It also ranked 6th in the NFL betting in passing yards and 7th in league in rushing yards. The Bengals have toughened up in the middle of the defense thanks to some very good drafting in recent years and has arguably the best set of cover CBs in the NFL odds right now.

The Bengals are a team on the rise and as defending AFC North champs they’re the ones bullying people around now, not the other way around.

The Miami Dolphins have been little more than an average team over the past few NFL wagering seasons and the team is only two years removed from a nightmarish 1-15 season. But since football guru Bill Parcells and head coach Tony Soprano took over this team’s performance against the NFL gambling lines has certainly trended upward.

For the most part this team’s roster has been as talented starved as any in the NFL betting lines action but has also been an overachiever and able to win a modest total of games. But this football betting offseason the team got an infusion of talent at the position where it was needed most: WR.

The team made the biggest trade of the NFL betting offseason by trading for the troubled but supremely talented WR from the Broncos, Brandon Marshall. Marshall automatically upgrades this offense from poor to the division title contender simply by stepping on the field. The Dolphins have consistently had the worst receiving corps in football betting and this has forced their offense to become one-dimensional and over rely on the run.

Not this year. With young QB Chad Henne poised for a breakout season he could put huge numbers this NFL betting season if Marshall can stay healthy and adapt to playing in Miami. The running game will remain one of the best in football betting with RBs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams sharing carries.

On defense there are few holes but the front seven remains strong and if the secondary can simply cut down on the number of big plays over the top this team will be as good as any in the AFC East. That’s right, this team will be able to compete head to head in the NFL betting lines competition with the New York Jets and New England Patriots. And when the football betting dust clears, we might just see the Dolphins hoisting the division title.

He also brought in some experienced pros like QB Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme, who’ve NFL gambling success in the past but neither is likely to quarterback this team to a Super Bowl.

But if any team can survive this type of turmoil it’s the Steelers. Rumors were rampant that the Steelers would trade the troubled, but talented franchise QB on or before the NFL draft.

That kind of deal had the potential to shake up the entire NFL betting scene and so it’s little wonder why the sports betting universe was more interested in Big Ben then the NFL draft.

But as most NFL gambling experts and Steelers fans expected, Big Ben will wasn’t traded and more likely than not the Steelers were using the trade rumors as an opportunity to see what cards it’s NFL betting competitors were holding.

At the end of the day the Steelers even managed to salvage a pretty decent draft after the dust settled the football betting discussions drifted from the Roethlisberger scandal back to the NFL draft picks. In the first round of the draft, the Steelers fooled no one by taking C/G Maurkice Pouncey out the University of Florida. In the second round the Steelers selected the lesser-known Jason Worlids from Virginia Tech. An OLB, Worlids has one of the quickest first steps off the edge and in a Blitzberg defense he should emerge in a year or two as the best pass rusher in the 2010 NFL draft.

With a dozen picks in the draft the Pats could select a whole new starting offense or defense and have a sub to spare, but as always one of the most respected coaches in NFL gambling used the multiple picks to fix multiple holes in what was already a pretty good team by NFL betting standards.

The Pats particularly mined the talent of the University of Florida for talent taking three Gators between Rounds 2 and 4. LBs Jermaine Cunningham and Brandon Spikes will be ready to play immediately and after having competed against top talent the college football betting level week in and week out should excel. TE Aaron Hernandez is also ready to step in and contribute the teams NFL betting success immediately as well. Hernandez was rated as high as a top five talent on some NFL gambling draft boards and appears to be a steal going in the fourth round.

The team’s top pick, CB Devin McCourty, isn’t a big name outside of NFL scouting circles but saw his stock rise in the run up to the NFL draft may not contribute immediately but has a bright future in the NFL betting scene thanks to his fundamentals. In Round 2 the Pats took the first of their two TEs selecting Rob Gronkowski of the U of Arizona. The former Wildcat has massive size and can block and catch with equal skill.

The other player taken by the Pats in this year’s NFL draft that should walk into the starting lineup when the football betting schedule begins in the fall is punter Zoltan Mesko from the University of Michigan.

The rest of the Pats dozen NFL draft picks are less likely to have an immediate impact but many should make the squad and develop into contributors in the NFL betting action within a few years.

But the 2009 college football betting season was full of injuries and disappointment and the stock of this class as a whole took a hit. Bradford missed most of the action but still retained his #1 ranking among the QBs by NFL gambling experts. Tebow and McCoy fell off the face of the NFL draft map. Junior Jimmy Clausen also entered the mix when he declared for the NFL draft early after an impressive statistical season at Notre Dame.

But in the months that have gone by since the end of the NCAA football wagering season there have been more seismic shifts in the QB landscape and now it’s very possible that instead of Bradford being the only QB taken in the first round of the NFL draft, we could three, maybe even four QBs names’ called on Thursday.

Bradford seems a lock at the #1 pick overall according to almost every single online betting site. It seems as if Clausen grades out at Round 1 status on most NFL gambling sites as well. The big surprise and most likely the third QB to go in Round 1 is Tebow. No players’ NFL draft stock has risen as quickly as Tebow’s in the past two months and most football betting experts have Tebow going between picks 20-45 –maybe even higher.

And even though there hasn’t been a lot press about McCoy, many NFL draft experts could now seem him going in the late first round by a team looking to develop their QB position for the future. All told, we’ll see at least two QBs going Round 1 of the NFL draft and perhaps as many as four.

The move came as just the latest in an NFL betting off season that has seen many an interesting move. The McNabb trade to Philly comes to mind as does the Delomme signing in Cleveland. But neither of those moves will likely have as big an impact on the upcoming draft as the Steelers moving Holmes this NFL betting lines offseason.

According to NFL lines betting experts the McNabb trade will have one major effect in the Skins are now very unlikely to take QB in the first round of the NFL draft. Head Coach Mike Singletary seems to have this team on the right track and true to his character he has the team playing spirited defense and one the verge of challenging for an NFC West football betting crown. With the 13th and 17th pick in this year’s NFL draft the Niners can address just about any need they have which, unfortunately, are many. The biggest weakness for San Fran is QB. The team has conditionally supported Alex Smith as the starter but as any NFL betting fan knows, Smith is no long-term solution and a below average QB in the NFL odds action.

The team could take flyer on someone like Jimmy Clausen who may or may not be available at the 13th pick or they could instead opt to get a lineman to protect Smith and hope he has a breakthrough year in the 2010 NFL betting season.

He’s a threat to score every time he touches the ball and should provide an immediate boost to one of the blandest offenses in football betting.
