Monday Night Football: Giants vs Cowboys NFL Betting Lines

October 25th, 2010 by

giants vs cowboysWhen the Dallas Cowboys (1-4) play host to the (4-2) New York Giants during the Week 7 Monday Night NFL gambling matchup there will two players that will have more of an impact on this game than any others: QBs Tony Romo and Eli Manning.

Quarterbacks always have more influence on the game than any other position but these are two of the league’ premier QBs and the fate of their teams will be determined by their respective play.

Both Dallas (#4) and New York (#2) are among the best pass defenses (180.6 ypg; 172.0 yards per game, respectively) in the league and it should be tough going for both Romo and Manning. The deciding factor here could also be the pass rush. The Giants pass rush has blossomed into a force of nature and set a single half sack record earlier in the year (8 sacks). This team also has an NFL betting odds history of coming into Dallas and sacking Romo like crazy.

Kickoff for this Monday matchup is set for 8:40 Eastern Time and sbgglobal opened with the Cowboys as a 3-point favorite with an over/under total at 44.5.

The Cowboys pass rush is tame by comparison with 12.0 sacks through 5 games but this team can certainly get pressure from the outside on an opposing passer. But instead of sacks Dallas will be more concerned with creating INTs. Dallas has not been good at creating TOs (2 INTs in 5 games) but against the INT prone Manning the team could fare much better. Manning has 8 INTS through 6 games and has a passer rating of just 86.9.

The Cowboys can certainly win this game but they must cut down on the stupid penalties and keep NY running back Ahmad Bradshaw from having a big game. Bradshaw has been having a great season (97.0 ypg, 5.3 ypc) and could take over the NFL rushing yard lead with a big game tonight. Dallas must force NY to throw the ball and hope that Manning throws a pick or two.

Dallas should win this sports betting matchup.
