NFL Betting – Bears at Ravens Sports Betting

December 17th, 2009 by Leave a comment Go to comments

Sports betting odds makers and football fans in general think very little of the Chicago Bears. And that would explain why the struggling Bears (5-8) are 10 point on the road in Baltimore.

The Ravens are a decent team and at 7-6 are still very much alive in the crazy scramble that is the AFC wildcard competition. But ten points better than the Bears in December? This line is one of the fattest of the week and one of the juiciest sports betting lines to bet against.

The Bears are not a consistent team and that’s why the team is 5-8 and not going to the playoffs anytime soon. The team has little to no receiving talent despite Devin Hester having a career year at an unnatural position (54 receptions). Jay Cutler is the natural goat in this Windy City sportsbetting odds debacle but it’s not all his fault.

He’s has to force plays in order to make up for a lack of running game and big play makers in the passing game. And his 22 INTs are highly dubious accomplishment. Still, when this guy is on he’s a pretty competent QB.

If he can keep the turnovers down, not all that easy against an Ed Reed-led secondary, the Bears have a real chance to surprise some people here. The Ravens are not ten points better than the Bears when they play well and fans should expect a tighter result. Pick the Bears to cover the spread and maybe more on a freezing day beside the Chesapeake Bay.
