NFL Games – AFC Championship

If the NFL games were only two quarters long the upstart New York Jets (11-7) would be headed to the Super Bowl in Miami. But as every sports betting fan knows it’s how you finish the game, not how you start it that counts. After having their jocks handed to them for the better part of the first half of the AFC Championship game, the Colts came roaring back in the second half pounded the Jets into submission.

After jumping out to a 17-6 lead it looked as if the Jets were in cruise control doing exactly what they wanted. And a team like the Jets that can run the ball and is ranked #1 in defense in league rarely looses with a near 2 TD lead. But then again, it’s not every day you play a QB like Manning.

After driving down the field to throw a TD pass to Austin Collie in the closing minute of the first half the Colts never looked back. The defense would pitch a shutout in the second half and Manning was vintage Manning. He finished the day nearly perfect going 26-39 for 310 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs and a 123 passing rating.

He couldn’t have been any better. What’s more impressive is that he made the best defense in the NFL look like the second string. After getting knocked around early he made the necessary adjustments and all but eliminated the threat of the feared Jets’ blitz by making the right adjustments at the line of scrimmage. Thanks to Manning and some spirited defense in the second half the Colts will be playing in the NFL championship in less than two weeks.
