NFL Odds Cardinals vrs. Saints Sports Betting

According to the sports betting there is no surer bet this weekend in the NFL odds than picking the New Orleans Saints to win at home against the visiting Arizona Cardinals. The early betting lines list the Saints as 7 point favorites (more or less the same as the AFC line for the Chargers vs the Jets).

NFL Odds makers generally get the games right but this might be one of the rare exceptions. Even though the Cardinals are prohibitive underdogs, this team has a very chance of covering the spread and perhaps even winning this game out right. People seem to have short memories and it was less than a week ago that this same TD underdog from the Desert hung up 51 points against the second best defense in the NFL (Green Bay).

Add to that the fact that Pro Bowl receiver Anquan Boldin (1, 024 yards, 4 TDs) is set to return for this game and the offense will be even more potent than last week. And to be sure, the Saints are nowhere the second best defense in the NFL. In fact, far from it. The Saints rank in the bottom half of the league in nearly every meaningful defensive stat and 357 total yards a game and an alarming 235.6 yards in the air per game; alarming because the Cards passing game is so good.

Arizona can also run the ball even if the stats are unimpressive. When healthy, rookie Beanie Wells has proven he’s an NFL caliber player averaging 4.5 yards a carry. On defense the Cards are a better unit than the number indicate, but the Saints should be able to put points on the board. The key to an Arizona win will be getting in the end zone and not settling for field goals in what should be a very high scoring affair.
