NFL Odds – Patriots Wild Card Playoffs Betting Lines

The 10-6 New England Patriots will host an AFC Wildcard match up against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The early NFL betting lines favor the three-time NFL champions by 3 ½ points. And if the Pats are going to win the game will be very simple: Tom Brady must have a huge game.

Playing at home is obviously a huge advantage and generally worth about 3 points in the sports betting lines. In that light the Pats are only slightly favored in the NFL odds, but nonetheless favored. It’s already been well publicized that without Wes Welker the offense faces a challenge. But many online betting pundits seem to forget that the Pats also have a guy named Randy Moss working the sidelines.

Brady must get Moss going early against a deplete Ravens’ secondary. Welker’s replacement Julian Edelman must step up and could surprise the Ravens defense with his unheralded ability. On defense the Pats must shut-down Ray Rice second leading all purpose yard gainer in the league.

That has proven almost impossible in the past month and will key to a New England win. The Pats will also need to get at least one turnover in coverage against Baltimore Joe Flacco, something this unit is very capable of doing. Points of concern for the Pats obviously are the run defense and slowing down Rice. New England has given up 110 yards a game on the ground. Stopping the Baltimore blitz will also be paramount and that means Edelman must have a big game receiving as the hot receiver and dump off man in pass rush situations.
