NFL Betting Lines: Cowboys vs Texans Sports Betting

September 26th, 2010 by

cowboys vs texansThis may be the first time in NFL gambling history that these two teams have met up and the Houston Texans (2-0) had the better record. Since the inception of this Houston squad the Texans have always been the red headed step child in Texas football action. The Dallas Cowboys (0-2) have always been the glamour team of this state even dating back to the former Houston Oilers squad.

But after two weeks of action in the 2010 NFL season the Cowboys have yet to win and the Texans are not only undefeated but favored in their Week 3 run in with their cross state rivals.

Hopes are high in Houston as the Texans seem to finally be living up their potential. For the past several seasons this team has hung up huge numbers with QB Matt Schaub and the WR Andre Johnson the leading passer and receiver, respectively, in 2009. But they team finished just 9-7 and squandered a chance to make the post season on the last day of the season.

This year the Texans are off to the best start in franchise history with a win over AFC South rival and kingpin Indianapolis Colts and a very tuff Washington Redskin team on the road.

Last week Schaub threw for 497 yards and 3 TDs with Johnson catching 12 passes for 158 yards and a TD.

Dallas’ Pro Bowl QB-WR duo of Tony Romo and Miles Austin are both coming off big stat weeks as well (Romo 374 yards passing, Austin 142 yards receiving) but it mattered little as the team still dropped a home game to a mediocre Bears squad.

The Dallas defense was awful against a turnover over prone offense and made Jay Cutler (277 yards, 3 TDs) look like Joe Montana. The ‘Boys D gave up 27 points last week after giving up just 13 the week before.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg global.com opened with the Texans as a 2.5-point favorite with an over/under total at 47.5.

As good as Houston has looked in its first two games it’s just tough to imagine this talented Dallas squad falling to 0-3.

The best sports betting move here might be to pick Dallas to at least beat the spread if not win outright.
