NFL Betting Lines: Giants vs Cowboys Sportsbook Odds

October 25th, 2010 by

giants - cowboysThe NFC is as muddled as ever through the Week 7 action and with the Dallas Cowboys hosting hated division rivals the New York Giants things in the divisional standings could get even murkier depending on how this NFL betting odds matchup plays out.

Dallas has had a nightmare start to the season going just 1-4 through the first 5 games of the season. The team’s roster is still dripping with talent and its executed well on many level but stupid penalties and other mistakes have cost this team games and with a bit more discipline it could easily 4-1.

The Giants have been an up and down team and after stumbling to a 1-2 start to the season the Giants are now 4-2 and have won 3 straight teams. It’s tough to bet against a team on that kind of a roll and this game should be a good one.

Kickoff for this Monday matchup is set for 8:40 Eastern Time and sbg global opened with the Cowboys as a 3-point favorite with an over/under total at 44.5.

There should be plenty of offense and plenty of big plays but this game will be won or lost by the defense. The Giants D was just beginning to look it was the real deal after giving up just 13 points combined in Weeks 4 and 5 of the NFL gambling action. But last week against a very mediocre Lions team it gave up 20 points and a heap of yards. And against a Dallas offense that is capable of racking up points in a hurry if it isn’t drawing offside penalties or any other yellow handkerchiefs it’s going to a tough 60 minutes.

Heading into this game the Giants defense ranked 14th in the NFL in total defense (19.7 ppg). This unit of crazed pass rushers has 21 sacks through 7 games and that’s not good news for Tony Romo who continually been harassed by the Giants past rush the past few seasons.

Despite all the losses Romo has stilled cobbled together a productive season (93.6 passer rating, 313.2 ypg, 10 TDs, 7 INTs and should be able to get in the end zone against a good Giants pass defense (172 passing yards per game, 2nd best in the league).

Look for Cowboys to finally get a second entry in the win column and to beat the Giants in this sports betting matchup at home.
