NFL Betting Lines: Steelers vs Buccaneers Picks Odds

September 26th, 2010 by

steelers vs buccaneersThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to one of their greatest starts to an NFL gambling season in the franchise’s history. At 2-0 the Bucs have far exceeded even the wildest expectations of football pundits or even their diehard fans. And while a 2-0 start in the league is nothing to be scoffed it’s still very difficult not to think that this team is still one of the worst in the league.

On Sunday this Tampa team should get a serious wakeup call from an angry Steelers defense that is playing like 11 angry men with a point to prove.

Tampa is coming two consecutive wins over the Cleveland Browns (0-2) and the Carolina Panthers (0-2) who just might be the only two teams in the NFL betting odds competition that are worse than the Bucs. That they just happened to be on the Bucs schedule is a coincidence of monumental proportions. And while it may have resulted in two victories it also has set this squad up for a very rude awakening.

Even in victory the Bucs have been mediocre. QB Josh Freeman is averaging just 180 yards passing per game. Cadillac Williams is the team’s leading rusher with 63 yards per game and their leading receiver Kellen Williams is averaging 57 yards per game. Hardly an offensive force. On defense the team has given up three TDs to the sputtering Browns and Panthers offenses.

Even with fossil Charlie Batch at QB the Steelers offense is still light years ahead of either the offenses that the Bucs have faced so far this year.

But it’s not the offense that Tampa needs to be wary of. It’s the defense. Coming off a 7 turnover game in which the Steelers D became the first team in a year to hold Chris Johnson, the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, under 100 yards rushing (just 34 yards), this defense will be looking to feast on Freeman & Co. Steeler’s defense should dominate and score several times against Tampa.

Kickoff for this Sunday sports betting matchup is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg opened with the Steelers as a 2.5-point favorite with an over/under total at 33.5.
