NFL Betting Lines Odds: Jaguars vs Chargers Week 2 Predictions

September 19th, 2010 by

There were a handful of surprising upsets during Week 1 of the NFL football odds season but none quite as startling as the Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) 21-14 win over the highly favored San Diego Chargers (0-1). San Diego haters are coming out of the wood work ready to give up on the team after just one game.

But it’s not quite that simple. Granted the Chargers should have won the game and there are some big questions that remain for this team (O-line? Wide Receiver strength? Pass Rushing?) But the Chargers will rebound and will most likely win the AFC West and be a tough out in the playoffs.

One thing to remember is that the Chargers always seem to get off to a slow start before rattling off a late season win streak (13 in a row in ’09). This year the team’s schedule is set up to make another big run. Also, Week 1 division games are always the toughest games of the year and the footing between a good team and an inferior opponent is as level as it will get all season.

The Chargers are better team than what they showed last Sunday and should prove it with a win at home over the Jags (1-0) in this week’s NFL gambling odds matchup.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 4:20 Eastern Time and sbgglobal opened with the Chargers as a 7-point favorite with an over/under total at 45.5.

The Jags played a nice game last week grabbing a 24-17 home win against a so-so Broncos team.

But playing on the road against a very good Chargers team will be something quite different. The Jag’s offense looked bad against a very soft Broncos defense. The team managed a total of just 299 net yards all day. RB Maurice Jones Drew had 98 yards and David Gerrard threw for just 170 yards.

That type of performance wont’ produce enough offense to beat a Phillip Rivers led offense at home.

The Chargers defense is far from perfect and Jones-Drew should be able to do some damage. But the Jags defense is even worse and Rivers should have a huge day picking apart a poor secondary in this sports betting matchup.
