NFL Betting Week 5: Broncos vs Ravens Predictions

October 10th, 2010 by

broncos vs ravensThe Denver Broncos may only be 2-2 but this has been one of the best or at least most entertaining teams in the NFL betting odds action so far this season. And on Sunday when they play the Baltimore Ravens in a Week 5 road match up they may just have a few more surprises up their sleeve.

The (3-1) just might be the best team in the NFL right now after going up to the Steel City and stealing a win against the previously undefeated Steelers (3-1) in their own backyard. Granted the Steelers were playing with their 4th string QB and missed two potentially game winning FGs but the Ravens looked terrific.

It will be a battle of a great Denver offense versus a great Baltimore defense and the sports betting fans should be the ultimate winners.

Kickoff for this Sunday match up is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg global sportsbook opened with the Ravens as a 7-point favorite with an over/under total at 38.

This seems like a wide spread for a high flying and underrated offense like Denver’s (394.5 yards and 21.8 yards a game) but this team has had major trouble scoring inside the Red Zone and against a top defense like Baltimore (5th in the NFL giving up just 13.8 ppg) things won’t get any easier.

Aside from trying to score Denver’s other major concern will be how to slow down an invigorated Raven’s passing game that has seen Joe Flacco make some great plays and newly acquired WR Anquan Bolden (355 yards, 3 TDs) turn into the go to guy on this offense. The Broncos defense has been like a wet paper sack: sticking to WRs but very easy to run through and giving up 21.8 ppg.

But this defense isn’t as bad as the numbers might indicate and it gave up just 27 points to the high octane Colts.

Also keep in mind that as good as the Raven’s D is, Kyle Orton is the top passer in the league right now (1,419 passing yards) and his 6/3 TD/INT ratio is solid.
Baltimore is a better team but after a tough win against a good Titans squad the Broncos have shown they can win on the road and could make this NFL gambling match up very interesting.
