NFL Gambling Odds: Falcons vs Saints Predictions

September 26th, 2010 by

falcons vs saintsThe New Orleans Saints have been the cock of the walk in the NFC South the past couple of seasons and are predicted to win the division again this year in their bid to defend their Super Bowl title but if anyone is going to knock this team off the top of the NFL gambling division standings it the Atlanta Falcons.

These two teams will do battle in the Super Dome this weekend and contrary to what many experts have opined, the Falcons have a very good chance of handing the Saints their first loss of the season.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg global sportsbook opened with the Saints as a 3.5-point favorite with an over/under total at 50.

Notice that the sports betting point spread is awfully thin at just 3.5 and there isn’t much defense expected as this matchup has the highest over/under total of the week.

But when these teams finally take the field both of those predictions could be proven wrong.

The Falcons (1-1) are a very good team on both sides of the ball and could very easily be heading into Week 3 action undefeated if it weren’t’ for a very good Steelers defense.

Last week’s 41-7 destruction of an above average Cardinals team should serve as a warning shot to the Saints that the Dirty Birds mean business. QB Matt Ryan was spot on directing this offense and finished the day with 3 TDs and 0 INTs. The running attack was impressive as it racked up 221 yards on the ground with 3rd-stringer Jason Snelling. Starter Michael Turner should be fit for action and give the ground game even more power this week.

The Saints (2-0) have ground out two gritty wins so far this season but have not looked dominant, or even all that good. The barely snuck past a mediocre San Fran team on Monday night (25-22) giving up 417 total yards in the process. In fact, the Champs should have lost that game and if they play the same soft defense against a potent Atlanta attack this team will get torched.

The Saints are favored at home in the sports betting odds but look for the Falcons to win this game.
