Sport Betting Odds: Jets vs Bills Week 4 Predictions

October 3rd, 2010 by

jets vs billsThe New York Jets (2-1) have been roller coaster ride of team since the offseason but love them or hate them this is a quality team and that has shown through during the first 3 weeks of the NFL betting season.

This weekend the team travels upstate to take on their division rival the Buffalo Bills (0-3) and when all the dust has settled the Jets will be the victors.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg opened with the Jets as a 4.5-point favorite with an over/under total at 37.

Even though there isn’t likely to any great outburst of offense during the AFC East showdown the position to watch on both sides will be QB, but for different reasons.

After a rotten start to the year in which the Bills have averaged just 15.7 points a game and registered a league worst 139 yards passing per game the team jettisoned Week 1 starter Trent Edwards for their old standup Ryan Fitzpatrick –the only starting Harvard grad in the NFL. The results were yet another Buffalo loss but Fitzy looked sharp throwing for 247 yards and 2 TDs versus the Pats.

For the Jets second-year QB Mark Sanchez hasn’t had many opportunities to throw the ball but in the 79 pass attempts he’s taken he’s been nearly perfect with QB rating of 104.9 and 6 TDs with 0 INTs.

Many NFL gambling pundits believe he’s due for a bad game and he could be. But if the Jets keep the game plan conservative and rely on the running game and the defense he won’t have much opportunity to mess up.

New York’s D should make life miserable for Fitzpatrick but after getting scorched by Miami QB Chad Henne for 363 yards this team’s pass defense has some cracks and now the Bills have some film to study.

This should be a close game as the betting line indicates. The wild card here could be special teams and in particular the play of rookie CJ Spiller and electrifying talent who scored his first two NFL TDs last week (pass and KO return) and now that he’s got a taste for the end zone he might be difficult to keep out.

At the very least pick the Bills to cover the sports betting spread in this game but picking the upset might be a bit too gutsy.
