If anyone took the NFL betting odds on Kansas City in Sunday’s game they’re sitting on a pile of money right now. When the Chiefs hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 11 there was perhaps no bigger mismatch on the board. And yet that’s what makes the NFL betting lines so interesting.

The 2009 NFL lines on the regular season are finally here. First off, the opening game between the defending Super Bowl champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, as they host the Tennessee Titans in their home stadium of Heinz Field. As the previous Super Bowl champs, they earn the honor of opening up the following season, and open it they shall.
The Steelers enter the 2009 regular season as 6½ point favorites, and they are expected to cover. The preseason wasn’t exactly a stellar performance, but they still did exceptionally well. With a 3-1 preseason record against the Titans’ 3-2 preseason record, the two teams look easily matched. However, the Titans are 0-2 in road games for the preseason. The Cowboys lost for the first time in their new home against the San Francisco 49ers that beat them 20-13. The first touchdown of the game was until the second quarter with a 3 yards run from the Cowboy, Felix Jones. Nick Folk gave a 10 points lead to Dallas in the second period thanks to a 25 yards field goal.
But the 49ers responded in the second quarter and Joe Nedney scored a 42 yards field goal. By the end of the third quarter, the score board had a tie, after Kory Sheets made a yard touchdown. Read more…
Mark Sanchez was the center of attention yesterday as the Jets went head to head against the Baltimore Ravens. Sanchez threw his first touchdown pass in what would be his first game as starting quarterback. Nevertheless the Jets suffered their second defeat of the pre-season 24-23.
All in all, it wasn’t the player’s best performance. His first pass attempt was intercepted by Haloti Ngata who carried out a great turnover play that ended in a 25 yards run and touchdown for the Ravens. Read more…
