The Tennesee Titans had a wonderful start on the NFL preseason as they imposed themselves over the Buffalo Bills, winning the Hall of Fame game 21-18 on Sunday night. Titans quarterback, Kerry Collins, came through with seven of ten passes to add up 82 yards to their favor. On the other hand, Gibran Hamdan, Bills quarterback, connected 11 of the 13 passes he performed and accumulated 89 yards.

Tennessee immediately responded with a great offensive play and took lead of the game. A spectacular 40 yard run by punter AJ Trapasso set the score at 7-0 with an extra point kick by Rob Bironas. Towards the end of the first quarter, LenDale White helped give the Titans a greater advantage with a dash for three yards that capped an offensive run that spread 73 yards in 11 plays and ate up 5:07 on the clock.

But it was still too soon to take the Bills as defeated as they changed the story on the scoreboard at the beginning of the second quarter with a field goal by Ryan Lindell and placed the score at 3-14. Ten seconds before halftime, the Bills came at it again with an effective offensive series and managed another 47 yards culminating with another field goal by Lindell.

The Bills dominated the second half as the substitutions took place. On the third quarter, they took three more points off the difference in the score with a 52 yard kick by Lindell. Buffalo’s defense also did their job and forced Trapasso to step out of bounds as he tried his useless passes towards his end zone teammates. Nevertheless, Buffalo did not have enough time and the scoreboards at Fawcett Stadium ended in a 19-21 Tennessee lead, and at the same time initiated the NFL preseason.

As a sports bettor, you probably belong to the multitude of handicappers that try their hardest to stay away from wagering on the NFL preseason. Chances are your theory is based on this specific reason: You can’t bring yourself to wager on NFL games that are really just there to give the second and third string players playing time.

But if you take a look at it, this is the only time during the NFL season that important information is open to anyone (especially to handicappers). If you aren’t betting on the NFL preseason, you’re missing out on a great opportunity to increase your bankroll before the real football kicks off. All you need to do is take some time out of your busy schedules to find some useful information.

The NFL preseason is the time when coaches make their game plans public. They release information like how much game time the important players will see or who will be starting for each position. These are just little examples of information you can find at your local news sources. For example, Indianapolis’ Coach Jim Caldwell mentioning that “Manning is just going to play the first series of the game, same as the rest of the first string office.” Knowing that Manning isn’t going to play that much is a great advantage.

It’s always a good idea to check your local online news source or related blog sites for information like the coach’s game plans, injuries, and more. You’d be surprised at what kind of information you can find for free.

If you enjoy handicapping and you’re any good at it, there’s a $15,000 Handicapping Contest at SBG Global. For every week during the regular season they pay the winner a handsome sum of money for successful handicapping. It’s worth taking a look at, especially if you’re a good handicapper.
