A lot of people like to think that the betting NFL preseason doesn’t mean much. They may add that it’s simply a warm up for the real season, a chance for players to get in shape, QBs and receivers to build a rapport and a chance for the coaches to make the final roster cuts. And that’s all true. But the importance of the third game of the preseason cannot be overstated and for 2-3 quarters this is a virtual regular season game.

More important, its chance for sports betting fans, coaches and players to get a glimpse of a team’s potential.

Come Sunday night when the Denver Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers hometown fans may not like what they see when their Broncos take the field.

Last year the Broncos started the NFL betting lines action as the hottest team in football winning their first 5 games and beating some very good teams in the process. But then the football clock struck 12 and this team turned back into a pumpkin. Rookie head coach Josh McDaniels did an admirable job but the fact was the team just wasn’t that talented and finished the regular season action 8-8 in one of the easiest divisions in the NFL.

2010 could be a struggle for this Denver squad as this team, but most accounts, has gotten worse in the offseason. Most noticeably, the team traded away its best player (WR Brandon Marshall). Without this Pro Bowl receiver QB Kyle Orton, a player of limited talent, should struggle mightily in the passing game. He’ll have to rely on rag-tag receiving corps and a rookie WR to try and move the ball downfield.

Against the Steelers this passing game will be put to the test in a very extreme way as Dick LeBeau should unleash the hounds against Orton and bring every conceivable blitz scheme at the QB as often as possible. With S Troy Palomalu healthy once again Orton will be running for his life as the wild-haired safety gives the Steelers a blitzing dimension the team sorely lacked last season.

While there is no substitute for regular season action, this game will be as close as it gets for both teams and Broncos offense is likely to find that it’s just not very good this year.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 8:05 Eastern Time and sbg global sportsbook opened with the Steelers as a 1-point favorite with an over/under total at 36.

When you think of the current Pittsburgh Steelers squad there are plenty of positions that might produce a question mark or two, but QB is not one of them. Yet that is the biggest question mark that this team will be addressing in its betting NFL preseason showdown with the Denver Broncos.

The Steelers are fortunate to have one of the best QBs in the game, 2-time Super Bowl Champion Ben Roethlisberger, but thanks to his abominable behavior off the field the team will be without his services for at least the first four games of the 2010 NFL betting lines action. The team has just 4 preseason games to try and resolve this QB issue and in reality this matchup with the Broncos will be the decisive game in terms of deciding the starter.

Heading into the preseason it was all but a foregone conclusion that Byron Leftwich would take the reins behind center until Big Ben was re-instated. But the issue has become a bit clouded during the first half of the preseason as second-year man Dennis Dixon, formerly of the University of Oregon, has been outstanding.

Leftwich has also been performing well and has proven in the past that he can lead this offense to the end zone a few caretaker wins as he did last season. But Dixon has performed well in his only professional start is a very good scrambler –a dimension that Leftwich does not possess and which opens up a lot of doors in terms of offensive scheming.

It will be interesting to see which QB does get the start but odds are leaning towards Leftwich getting the starting job based on his experience, with Dixon likely seeing plenty of snaps as well in perhaps a ‘wildcat’ type of situation.

The Broncos on the other hand would love to have even one of the Steelers QB. Kyle Orton performed better than expected last season with 21 TDs and just 12 INTs but about the best thing that can be said is that he didn’t turn the ball over too much. He is no long term fix behind center and Broncos are hoping that first-round pick and college legend, Tim Tebow might grow in the role of starter and if healthy he should see a good chunk of playing time on Sunday.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 8:05 Eastern Time and sbg opened with the Steelers as a 1-point favorite with an over/under total at 36.

Few athletes in sports betting have come from out of nowhere to have a bigger impact on a team and a league than Dallas QB Tony Romo. Undrafted out of tiny Eastern Illinois Romo earned a tryout spot with the Cowboys and somehow stuck as a third-string QB. He bided his time on the depth chart before getting chance to work this first time and the rest has been NFL history. Last season he threw for 4,483 yards and 26 TDs last season and led the team to an 11-5 record.

But after last season, Romo’s achievements might have been outdone by his own teammate, breakout receiver Miles Austin. This guy was lucky to even be on the open day roster but he paid out huge dividends in the half of a season that he started.

Undrafted out of Monmouth, Austin followed a similar trajectory to Romo’s catching 81 passes, 11 TDs and racking up 1,320 yards after being inserted into the starting lineup halfway through the NFL betting lines action last year. If he had started the entire season he would have been on pace to shatter almost every single season receiving record.

Fans will get a chance to see these two players try and pick up where they left off when they travel to Houston to take on the Texans in a betting NFL preseason battle for Texas.

Romo and Austin should see extended minutes, as the starters should play at least the first half in this final dress rehearsal for the regular season. Houston’s defense is average at best and the Cowboys should be able to put points on the board. However, the Texans have one of the most prolific offenses in the game and the ‘Boys defense will have their work cut out for them.

Texan QB Matt Schaub and WR Andre Johnson are the most dangerous duo in the NFL and the Cowboys must find a way to stop them if they hope to win this game.

Kickoff for this Saturday August 28th matchup is set for 8:05 Eastern Time and sbg global opened with the Texans as a 3-point favorite with an over/under total at 40.5.

The first team’s should battle it out but when the scrubs come in expect Houston to come out on top of the final score as home field advantage comes into play.

Since Drew Brees and Shawn Peyton arrived on the scene the Saints have been a team on the rise. No longer the ‘Aints’, this team made football history last season by winning its first Super Bowl and ensuring it’s place in sports betting legend for years to come.

The Chargers, a team that’s been at the top of the NFL world for a handful of years, unfortunately, looks like it’s on a reverse course at the moment and could soon find itself in the category of NFL has-beens.

When these two teams meet up on Friday August 27th at the Super Dome it will be on two completely different trajectories. While the Saints have had some turnover on the defensive side of the ball and some holes to plug the main corps of players is still intact and with a few additions the offense is likely even better than it was last season. By all indications this Saints team should once again be a Super Bowl contender.

The Chargers on the other hand just can’t seem to get a break in the run up this betting NFL preseason showdown. Star WR Vincent Jackson (1,167 yards last season) continues to hold out and the team may trade him. LaDanian Tomlinson, while aging, was still the team’s leading rusher last season (790 yards) is now gone and an untested rookie, Ryan Matthews will be asked to take over. Rivers is still at the top of his game but he’s missing his starting LT for God knows how long and there’s only so much he can do with the talent around him.

Kickoff for this Friday matchup is set for 7:05 Eastern Time and sbg global opened with the Saints as a 3-point favorite with an over/under total at 42.5. And when the ball is finally kicked off expect the Saints first team to run wild over the Chargers first unit and New Orleans grab the victory in front of the Saints Nation.

It’s no coincidence that the August 26th Thursday night NFL betting lines matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Green Bay Packers has the highest over/under on the board this week. These two teams boast two of the most proficient offenses in the NFL and can aerial supremacy over just about any opposing defense.

Kickoff for this Thursday matchup is set for 8:05 Eastern Time and SBG Global opened with the Packers as a 3.5-point favorite with an over/under total at 44. The crazy thing is that these teams could easily go over the 44 points, and in fact, likely will.

A quick look at the numbers reveals to offenses that have quick strike capabilities and score often. Both of these teams ranked in the top seven last year in the NFL betting lines competition in terms of scoring. The Packers averaged 28.8 ppg (3rd best in the league) and the Colts a healthy 26.0 ppg (7th best in the league). Just going off that information alone a sports betting fan might expect an over/under much higher than 44.

But of course this is a different year and things have changed …the offenses have actually probably improved.

Last year Peyton Manning threw for 282 yards a game while throwing to most first year starters. Receivers like rookie Austin Collie and practice squad player Pierre Garcon came up huge last season and with a year of experience under their belts will only be better this season. Plus, the Colts will have a healthy Anthony Gonzales back in the lineup. If Manning could rack up 4,500 passing yards and 29 TDs with that rag-tag bunch last year, what can he do with an improved group of receivers?

Aaron Rogers and the Packers also put up similarly blistering numbers as he threw for 4,434 yards and 30 TDs while the offense averaged 379 yards a game. Last season was just Rodgers’ second as a starter and the unit should be on even better footing this year as the familiarity between the new QB and his receivers should be at an all time high.

You don’t need to be an expert on sports betting to realize that this is going to be a high scoring affair. Manning and Rodgers are both likely to see around two quarters of action, hopefully the entire first half, before the subs are sent in for mop-up duty. But in those first two quarters look for the offensive fireworks to fly and watch two true masters of their craft at work.

As the avid NFL fans are ready for another exciting Monday night preseason match-up the schedule gives them the game tonight from Tennessee between the Cardinals of Arizona and the Titans of Tennessee and it will be seen on ESPN at 8 PM EDT.

This week two is coming to an end and all NFL teams are preparing and testing their players for the regular season. This game is a must watch for both Card and Titan fans that is being played at LP Field in Nashville. This game is where the fans get an idea if Matt Leinart can successfully replace the retired future Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. Also to see if he can avoid injuries that has hurt his previous career starting opportunities with Arizona.

In the 1st preseason game Leinart and Anderson and their 1st team offense did little to score or move the 1st down chains as the reserves led the team and eked out a 19-16 win, and the fans and coaching staff are looking for much more from the number one’s! See the NFL Betting lines at SBGGlobal.com. For the Titan fans they are anxious to see if their own Vince Young can carry into this 2010 season the potential that he put forth in the 2nd half of the 2009 season.

If you remember last season in a regular season matchup Young lead the Titans with 4th quarter heroics to beat the Cards 20-17 in Tempe, Arizona. Everyone should know what Young and Johnson are capable of, and the major question is can they put it together as leaders, and keep it that way for the entire 2010 season? Check out the NFL Odds on this match-up tonight.

With both the Cards and the Titans struggling offensively in this 2010 NFL Preseason and Anderson trying to take the starting QB position from Leinart and with the rookie Stafon Johnson injuring his ankle on the Titans roster, and the SBG points total set at 37 it looks at this point that taking the Under is a good bet in this game tonight.

For this Monday night NFL Odds the SBGGlobal Odds makers have the Titans favored at -4 (-110) and the Cardinals as dogs at +4 (-110) with the OV/UN 37 (-110) and on the Money Line the Titans at -210 and the Cardinals at +175. All lines and odds are subject to change at any given moment. Check out sbg global.com as they are offering up to 60% initial and reload bonuses on deposits this NFL season.

NFL betting lines excitement is now in full bloom as the Minnesota Vikings welcomed back Brett Favre to their training facility after talking him into a return season.

As has been the case for the past few years Favre skipped spring minicamp and off season workouts as well as the first few weeks of summer camp while contemplating retirement. There was even word put out early in July that Favre texted his Viking teammates with retirement messages. Favre was reported to have been unhappy with the progress of his ankle that was surgically repaired during the past off season after he was hit low by the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game.

With the regular season opener just three weeks away and Favre in seclusion at his Mississippi home there was growing concern that this year would be the one in which he really just might retire.

The Vikings decided that to coax Favre back to camp they would offer a $7 million raise and then sent teammates Jared Allen, Sean Hutchinson, and Ryan Longwell on a team jet to Favre’s home in order to personally beg him to return. The ploy worked as the 40-year old quarterback flew back with the trio.

Minnesota and Favre will travel to San Francisco to meet the 49ers in a preseason matchup on NBC Sunday Night Football sbg global opened with the 49ers as 3.5-point favorites with a total of 34.5. Kickoff is at 8:05 PM Eastern.

Favre is coming off one of the best seasons of his career as he threw 33 touchdown passes and just 7 interceptions in 2009 as he accepted the balanced offense of head coach Brad Childress. Unfortunately in the NFC title game he showed signs of being the “Old Gunslinger” that he is infamous for as forgo the chance to run in wide open field for an across the body across the field pass that was intercepted in the dying moments of regulation as the Vikings were closing in for the winning field goal. That is what many fans and sports betting handicappers remember most about last year.

Favre is considered by nearly everyone betting NFL preseason action to be the key component for the Vikings and their chances to win the NFC. Minnesota is considered to be in the final year of a window to win it all and this sets up a potential now or never season for both Favre and the team.

NFL betting lines handicappers were still skeptical about the Cincinnati Bengals ability to win consistently after their upset loss in the playoffs to the Jets last year.

The 2009 Bengals made the playoffs for the first time in four years but the finale was not impressive as the offense stalled in a home post season game that they were favored to win. Many experts believed that the Bengals won the AFC North based on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens having off years.

Cincinnati enters 2010 as a co-favorite to repeat as AFC North champions. Baltimore looks like the top challenger while Pittsburgh also has potential although they took a big step back and will be missing starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at the start of the season due to a suspension.

Cincinnati will host Philadelphia Friday night in preseason action. Sportsbook sbg opened with the Bengals as a 3-point favorite and with a total set for 36. The game can be seen on Fox TV at 8:05 Eastern.

While many magazines had the Ravens as the preseason choice, the Bengals are confident although not at all surprised to be snubbed by the national media.

“I think it’s because we’re the Bengals,” said Palmer. “It’s been negative around here for so long. There is kind of a negative feeling when you talk about the Bengals. They expect us to be that team again. Don’t judge this team by our history as an organization. Judge this one on the team that went out and won a division, and then got better. We’re better than we were last season.”

Cincinnati enters the 2010 sports betting in far better health and with new additions to the receiving corps with Terrell Owens and Antonio Bryant. First round tight end Jermaine Gresham is a potential rookie starter to give ace offensive coordinator Mike Zimmer plenty of weapons to call on.

“We were a better football team when we started back March 29 than the one that ended the season,” said head coach Marvin Lewis. I think we felt we were a stronger team when the offseason began. Now I think we’re even better.”

Handicappers betting NFL preseason games were impressed with Cincinnati in their 33-24 win over Denver last Sunday as they covered the spread as 3.5-point chalks. Palmer was near pin-point perfect as he went 12-15 for 105 yards.

With an underrated defense and improved offense Cincinnati will be a top contender in 2010.

NFL betting lines excitement is growing for the chances of the Cincinnati Bengals to repeat as champions of the AFC North along with a high profile roster addition.

The Bengals added Terrell Owens to the receiving corps. With the combination of Owens and Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati has one of the most high profile duos in the league as the pair are known for their over the top antics and for having the reputation of being drama queens.

Cincinnati hosts Philadelphia in a Friday preseason matchup. Sportsbook sbg global opened with the Bengals as a 3-point favorite and with an over/under total of 36. Kickoff is at 8:05 Eastern Time and the game can be seen on Fox TV.

With Owens and Ochocinco grabbing the headlines that puts starting quarterback Carson Palmer in the shadows, which many quarterbacks would argue is a good thing.

On balance Palmer is happy as he also has Antonio Bryant in his arsenal to make for one of the better receiving corps in the NFL. Last year the Bengals suffered key injuries to their receivers and the passing game stalled as a result. If healthy, the defending AFC North champions could prove to be even more dangerous in 2010.

Palmer alluded to the difficulty last year of defenses keying on Ochocinco.

“The defenses would roll three people to Chad’s side and we were done,” said Palmer. “It’s extremely frustrating. “

Palmer is hoping for the deep game to return for the 2010 sports betting season in Cincinnati.

“I love throwing the ball over their heads,” said Palmer. “I love throwing the deep outs, the deep digs. We need to do that to be the balanced offense we talk about.”

The revamped receiving corps plays to Palmer’s strength as a strong armed proto typical passer. Add in tight end Jermaine Gresham and the Bengals could prove to be an outstanding value on the board for everyone betting NFL preseason action.

Palmer is happy to have so many outstanding weapons. Beyond that he is happy to give them the spotlight.

“I like going out in pregame and the attention is all on Chad,” said Palmer. “That’s perfectly fine with me because I can go warm up with nobody bothering me. If it’s going to be focused on them, I can go about my business. I prefer not to have that attention.”

The game for tonight in the 2nd week of the 2010 Preseason match-up for this Thursday night August 19, 2010 at 8 PM EDT and coming to you on National Television with FOX from Atlanta. Both of these teams are 1-0 on the season as we remember that winning for them is not the important factor coming from these preseason games as it is the opportunity to see who’s who at the zoo and what potential the full slate of players on each team has to offer both on offense and defense.

See the NFL Odds on this game from Atlanta tonight in the Georgia Dome. On the other side of the sheet is the fact that both reams had a decent week one in this 2010 preseason and want to perform even better tonight. If you are interested in betting on this game go to sbg global.com sportsbook and log in to your account and be a part of the NFL Betting action at SBG you can get up to a 60% bonus on your first deposit.

This second game for both teams has each team putting their efforts in improving their defensive side of the game. The Patriots are especially interested in the since their shootout with the saints in the 1st game which brought up some questions about the defense. For the Falcons they are also not sure about the defensive abilities as they did not feel the game with the Chiefs provided them with the challenges they needed to face.

For the Patriots to win this game they need to the defensive line to stop the running game of Atlanta which game be very aggressive and opens up the passing game for Ryan of Atlanta. If the Patriots are able to control the running game of the Falcons then the rest of their game plan is predictable and the Patriot then will have a good chance to win this game. Check out the NFL Betting lines on this NFL came for tonight.

The Falcons are very aware that they need a big pass rush from the defense front seven tonight if they want to win this 2nd preseason game. They have to create a system to harass and go after the Patriots QB and especially one of Brady’s statures as in the regular season they will face a very similar situation in the 2 games they have with the Saints and Drew Brees another top rated QB.

For tonight’s game the Odds makers at SBGGlobal have set the lines on this preseason game favoring the Falcons at -2 ½ (-110) and the Patriots +2 ½ (-110) with the Money Line at OV/UN 37 (-110) and for the Money Line the Falcons are (-140) while the Patriots are +120. All Lines subject to change. For an update on the NFL Odds and NFL Betting actions go to SBGGlobal.com.
