NFL Odds – Vikings at Saints Sports Betting

Against the Minnesota Vikings teams have had to pick their poison this season. To loosely paraphrase from MacBeth, the conundrum has been: whether ‘tis nobler to die by the run or suffer the indignities of a thousand Brett Favre TD passes, or something like that.

But either way opposing defenses have had to not only stop the running attack led by All-pro Adrian Peterson (1,383 yards, 18 TDs) but also the newly lethal Vikings passing game led by a resurgent Brett Favre (33 TDs and just 7 INTs). And that is exactly the task at hand for a New Orleans defense that finished a very mediocre 19th in the NFL in scoring defense (21.3 ppg).

That becomes an even more worrisome issue for the sports betting crowd as the Saints are not likely to put up 45 points again this week in the NFL odds against a very stout Vikings D. Defense will be integral to a New Orleans win in the betting lines. The Saints defense is not all that extraordinary on paper, but where it excels is at turnovers and scoring off of turnovers. This will be a tall task against the Vikes.

Favre has thrown just 7 INTs all season and ballhawks like his former teammate Darren Sharper will have a hard time adding to his league leading 9 INTs. One area of the game where the Saints should look for their TOs is in the running game. As good as Peterson is, he’s got seven fumble son the season, among the most in NFL wagering. This could be a major factor in a game where every possession is vital.

The Viking’s ‘SECONDARY’ is going to get eaten alive! I’ve been a Vikings Fan for many years since the Fran Tarkenton days & while I’m pulling for my Vikes, I also have to be ‘realistic!’ Drew & crew are going to “Pass, Pass, Pass” knowing the weakness on the Vikes secondary…’s that simple! If the Vikes can stop the Pass, Vikes win hands down. But, the chances of that happening are very slim. And, the fact that they’re on the road is not good news either! I took Saints to win on Sunday. Saints win by 17 or more. “Mark my words on this one!” (Too many bets are going down on the Vikings…..not good news.)
