Odds Football: Bills vs Ravens NFL Week 7 Free Picks

October 23rd, 2010 by

ravens vs billsAfter suffering a gut wrenching OT loss to the New England Patriots (4-1) during Week 6 of the NFL betting odds action the Baltimore Ravens (4-2) couldn’t ask for a better opponent than the hapless Buffalo Bills (0-5).

Buffalo may not be the worst team in the NFL (that dubious distinction goes to the 0-5 Carolina Panthers) but they’re the second worst in the league and should be the perfect punching bag for a frustrated Baltimore team.

Kickoff for this Sunday matchup is set for 1:05 Eastern Time and sbg opened with the Ravens as a 13-point favorite with an over/under total at 37.5.

There’s not a lot of intrigue here or reading between the lines to be done: the Ravens are a very good team playing at home and the Bills are a very bad team playing on the road. It’s pretty cut and dry and this should be the safest bet of the week.

The only question about betting this line is whether or not the Ravens will cover the spread. 13 points is a lot but the talent disparity between these two teams is likely even more than that.

Buffalo’s offense ranks at 28th in the NFL in scoring at just 17.4 ppg. The offense line has some major issues, the passing game is meager (144.6 yards per game) and as such the running game has been stalled despite having some talented RBs. But as bad as the team’s offense woes might be, the defense is even worse. The Bills are giving up 32.2 ppg and there’s really no way to sugar coat. This team is absolutely unable to stop the run (182.3 ypg) and won’t win any games until it does.

That single stat is more or less the cause to this team’s failures and having to face Ray Rice on Sunday is not going to help the cause any. The sturdy RB is just starting to get his legs under him this season and he should have a monster day against this porous D.

Look for the Ravens to coast to a big victory in this sport betting matchup and the Bills to continue to look for that elusive first win.
