Sports Betting – Jets at Bengals NFL Odds

In the words of Yogi Bera, “it’s déjà vous all over again.” The Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets will go head to head for the second week in a row when the AFC wildcard playoff round gets underway this Saturday. When these teams met up in the week 17 NFL betting lines it wasn’t pretty for los Tigres.

Cincy got beaten silly on all fronts, but especially by the Jets blitz happy defense. New York enters this NFL odds matchup with the top defense in sports betting giving up just 14.8 ppg. That’s not a very inviting prospect for the Bengals, especially after what Rex Ryan’s unit did to Carson Palmer and his offense less than a week ago pitching a 24-0 shutout.

This time around the sports betting will go down in the Bengals backyard which will no doubt be a huge improvement but the results may not vary all that much. Aside from giving up the fewest points in the NFL his season the Jets are also the best pass defense team in the league by a wide margin (153 ypg; 30 yards less a game than any other team).

Led by CB Darelle Revis, perhaps the best defensive player in the league with 6 INTs this year, a million tackles and plenty of shutdown performances this unit is the best there is. On the ground things don’t get much easier as the Jets give up just 98 ypg, 8th best in the league. But the defining element of the Jets is the blitz. And even though they don’t get a lot of sacks there isn’t a single down that the QB is hurried. Palmer should be very wary of this group.
